Woods' Choice and What's Going On
So, Tiger Woods just said he won't be leading the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2025. He's got too much on his plate, you know? The guy's gotta prep for the Open Championship at Troon, and he's juggling a bunch of other stuff. Keegan Bradley's gonna take over as captain for that big event happening at Bethpage Black Course.
Tiger talked about it and sounded pretty bummed. He's like, "I've got so much going on with the tour and all these other projects, I'm on calls all day, and I just couldn't give the job the time it needs."
What's Keeping Tiger Tied Up
This dude's got a full schedule! He's the vice chair of the PGA Tour Enterprises board, he's in talks with some big wigs in Saudi Arabia about golf money, and he's even got a gig on the PGA Tour's policy board. Plus, he's starting this new golf league, TGL, with some techy vibes in January. That's a lot, right?
Why Tiger Passed on Being Captain
He just straight-up said, "I didn't think I could do a good job with everything else happening." With the TGL kicking off, the Ryder Cup, and all those important calls, he's spread too thin. "I can barely keep up with what I've got now," Tiger admitted.
Maybe Captain Later?
Don't worry, he's not writing off being captain forever. He's still got his eye on the 2027 gig at Adare Manor in Ireland, which is owned by his buddy JP McManus. So, there's a chance we'll see him in charge there.
Getting Ready for the Open
Tiger's been out of the game a bit this season because of health stuff, but he's pumped to be back at Royal Troon for the first time since 2004. He's feeling good about playing, even though he's not as active on the green this year.
What About Retiring?
Some folks, like Colin Montgomerie, have been hinting that maybe Tiger should think about hanging up his clubs. But Tigs is like, "Nah, I'm cool. I can still win this thing." And he's got a golden ticket to play in The Open until he's 60, so no rush!
