Man United 'Seriously Consider' January Deal as Transfer Boost Emerges
Manchester United is just over a week away from the opening of the January transfer window, and fresh reports suggest the club is already making moves behind the scenes for new signings.
Since his appointment as head coach in November, Manchester United's squad has been assessed by Ruben Amorim. Following the defeat in the Carabao Cup to Tottenham Hotspur, which was so hard to take, Amorim will be desperate to bounce back as United go away to Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend. It will be United's final match before Christmas and their first of three remaining for the calendar year.
With the January transfer window set to open on January 1, Manchester United is already linked with several potential signings, and the latest reports offer exciting developments in their transfer plans.
Ederson's Move to United?
The main topic dominating Manchester United's transfer rumors is their continued interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The Brazilian was linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer after playing a key role in Atalanta's Europa League campaign. According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Ederson remains on United's radar and is now being "seriously considered" for a transfer.
However, despite all the interest, not everybody within Manchester United's board is wholly convinced that Ederson will be a right fit at the club, and that's why conversations have not taken place with Atalanta yet, as it remains to be seen whether United will make a formal approach for the skilful midfielder.
That means Atalanta are believed to be valuing Ederson at around €70m (£58m), which could become a determining factor in United's decision-making over the coming weeks.
Boost in Dorgu Pursuit
In other transfer news, Manchester United have been handed a potential boost in their pursuit of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu. The 20-year-old left-back has been on United's radar, and reports from Give Me Sport suggest Dorgu would be open to joining United if the club makes an offer.
Although no official negotiations have begun, Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Dorgu in the New Year. Lecce have reportedly set a price tag of around £30 million for the left-back, and it remains to be seen if United will meet this valuation or if the club's priorities will shift in the coming weeks.
What's Next for Manchester United?
By the time the January transfer window reopens, Manchester United will weigh all their options cautiously to sign new players for their first team. Having Ruben Amorim in their corner, United are still likely to make every attempt at rebuilding and reinforcing a roster, mainly in areas like midfield and backline positions.
The United faithful will be glued to their screens, watching the developments of the transfer market, with a hope that the right players will come in to give the squad a different look for the second half of the season.
