Alan Shearer Predicts Manchester United v Fulham FA Cup Clash – "Tough One to Call"

Manchester United have secured two 1-0 Premier League victories over Fulham already this season and want a third triumph over Marco Silva's side in the FA Cup. However, Alan Shearer believes Fulham will win their fifth-round contest and add to "the difficult situation" for Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

Despite United's midweek Premier League victory against Ipswich Town, they have not done well in their recent matches, like a disappointing FA Cup match against Leicester. Fulham, whom United beat in the league this term, had previously tested them to the limit in the FA Cup last term before experiencing a dramatic late collapse at Old Trafford.

Both Fulham and Man United, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea out of the competition, both might see this year's FA Cup as the perfect opportunity to win silverware. Shearer is anticipating a close match because all five of their games together since that 2023 FA Cup game were decided by one goal, but he is rooting for Fulham to win.

"This is a tough one to call," Shearer wrote for Metro ahead of Sunday's game. "I’ll be there at Old Trafford doing co-commentary live on the BBC."
