Man United Prepares for Leicester Match Amid Transfer Speculation
Manchester United will be prepared to play away at Leicester City on Sunday at 7 PM after going through a mixed week of games in the Premier League and Europa League. Having drawn 1-1 against Arsenal and thrashed Real Sociedad 4-1, Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim will now try to get momentum.
With a disappointing campaign so far, Amorim believes his side can mount a comeback. "Let's forget the table and play Leicester the same as we played Real Sociedad," the Portuguese boss said. "We just have to win and improve our position on the table while at the same time keeping on growing as a team.".
Apart from the impending meeting, Manchester United also want to bolster their team. News suggests that the club is looking for a goal-scoring striker to solve their attack issues, with four players on the shortlist.
United's Four-Striker Shortlist Revealed
With the summer transfer window looming, Manchester United is considering a number of striker targets to strengthen their attack. Among the big names linked with the club are:
1. Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace)
Mateta has been playing in top form for Crystal Palace, though not everyone is convinced that he would be a good fit for Manchester United. Troy Deeney, a one-time Watford striker, has been questioning the ability of Mateta to fit into a team of United's quality.
"Mateta is not the answer to Man Utd," Deeney told The Sun. "He's playing all right at Palace, but United needs a traditional No. 9 who will support Rasmus Hojlund and get the team game up."
2. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)
One of United's long-term ambitions, Kane's Bayern Munich prospects hang in the balance. Gossip has it that the England captain will be allowed to leave for £67 million if his release clause is triggered by a Premier League side. Manchester United are reportedly set to make the move, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also in contention.
According to Bavarian Football Works, Bayern is open to discussing the exit of Kane, and this could turn out to be a transfer saga that defines the summer.
3. Victor Osimhen (Napoli)
Napoli's talismanic striker has been on United's radar for some time, and his goal-scoring ability is a top target. Osimhen's release clause is however in excess of £100 million, so this will be a hard deal unless they sell some of their players to raise the money.
4. Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig)
The Slovenian youngster forward is also one of Manchester United's other target names. Arsenal has reportedly been pushing hard for his signing, but United still wants to hijack the deal if they can. According to Bavarian Football Works, RB Leipzig performances by Šeško have attracted several top European clubs.
Morgan Gibbs-White Identified as a Key Target
Beyond the new striker signing, Manchester United is also trying to strengthen their midfield. Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White has been at the top of their radar. The 24-year-old has been fantastic for Forest, and United feels that he is the ideal creative spark to add some punch to the side's attack.
However, United will have to fend off interest from Liverpool, who are also monitoring the midfielder. According to Football Insider, Liverpool views Gibbs-White as a player with “one-of-a-kind” attributes, which could make the transfer battle even more intense.
Can United Bounce Back Against Leicester City?
While transfer plans are in motion, United will have to keep their eyes on the ball for now—Leicester City is next. Amorim's side is eager to secure a much-needed victory and move up the Premier League table.
While murmurs emerge regarding potential signings and strengthening of the squad, United fans will be watching closely as the club gets through the current season and the upcoming summer transfer window.
