Ancelotti on the Radar for Talks Over Brazil Job

Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of Real Madrid, is preparing for further talks about his potential move to Brazil's national football team. The 65-year-old Italian will meet with representatives of the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility of taking over the job ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reported to be on the radar for talks to coach Brazil's national team before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.

Future Talks with CBF Representatives

Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of Real Madrid, is preparing for further talks about his potential move to Brazil's national football team. The 65-year-old Italian will meet with representatives of the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility of taking over the job ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ancelotti’s Comments on His Future

After Real Madrid's disappointing loss to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday in Seville, Ancelotti dashed reports of his future. The Italian coach said, "My future is a matter of the next weeks, not today," meaning any choice about what he would do next would need to wait for now.

CBF's Attempts to Convince Ancelotti

During the course of the match, Brazilian businessman Diego Fernandes, who has been representing the CBF, was present in the stadium. Fernandes is believed to be in Europe to persuade Ancelotti to join as the Brazil manager as soon as the Spanish domestic season is over. If Ancelotti agrees, it would most likely see him leave Real Madrid before the Club World Cup in the United States this summer.

Ancelotti CBF's First Choice to Succeed Dorival Junior

The CBF has Ancelotti as its top choice to replace Dorival Junior, who was dismissed after Brazil's humiliating 4-1 defeat to Argentina in Buenos Aires last month. Brazil is fourth in the South American World Cup qualifying table. Even though they are not at risk of missing out on qualification to the 2026 tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the CBF believes Ancelotti offers Brazil the greatest chance of victory.

Past CBF Pursuit of Ancelotti

The CBF had previously tried to hire Ancelotti for last summer’s Copa America but was unsuccessful in their efforts. This time, the CBF hopes that the prospect of leading Brazil into the 2026 World Cup will convince the experienced coach to make the move.

Ancelotti’s Success at Real Madrid

Ancelotti’s tenure at Real Madrid has been marked by considerable success, with the coach securing two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies across two spells at the club. Both La Liga and the Champions League were won last season. However, his side is currently trailing Barcelona by four points in the La Liga title race with only five matches remaining. Also, Real Madrid was defeated 5-1 on aggregate by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Potential Ancelotti Replacement

If Ancelotti leaves Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is reportedly in view as a likely replacement. The Spanish midfielder-turned-coach has impressed everyone with his excellent work at Leverkusen and could be in view for the Bernabeu position.
