Andre Onana is going to be replaced for Manchester United's subsequent Premier League encounter with Newcastle following two costly mistakes in their recent 2-2 draw against Lyon in the Europa League.
Cameroon goalkeeper Onana was not in the team which traveled to Newcastle on Saturday, with Altay Bayindir poised to line up in goal at St James' Park. Onana has been criticized for Lyon's goals, and following a disastrous week when Nemanja Matic had branded him "one of the worst keepers in United's history," manager Ruben Amorim has opted to withdraw him from the spotlight.
Amorim is not, though, likely to alter too many of the starting XI due to the ongoing injury crisis. Manchester United continues to be short several key players, including Matthijs de Ligt, Amad Diallo, Jonny Evans, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez, and Toby Collyer.
To inject some fresh energy into the attack, Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount could be restored to the starting lineup. Kobbie Mainoo, who was reinstated for the first leg against Lyon, could also find some minutes in the lineup.
Despite his recent form, Andre Onana was initially being kept in between the sticks, but after his performance against Lyon, the switch has been made. The fans will be keenly interested to see Manchester United's reaction in this showdown.
In transfer news Manchester United, the latest troubles of Onana and the injury list have sparked rumors of potential signings or changes in the next transfer window. United may need to sort out these issues in order to make their team capable enough for the upcoming challenges.
