Fabrizio Romano has delivered a significant transfer update on highly sought-after Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen, one that can clear the path for Liverpool to land the young defender.
As TEAMtalk has previously reported, Huijsen is firmly on the radar of Liverpool, although the Reds face stiff competition from Chelsea, who have made him their top defensive target for this summer's transfer window.
The 20-year-old is of interest to clubs from all over Europe, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also keeping a close eye on him, especially with him possessing a relatively low release clause of £50 million (€58m / $66m).
That level of interest ensures Huijsen's departure from Bournemouth this summer is increasingly likely. While speaking in his latest Daily Briefing video, Romano revealed that the player would prefer to move to a larger Premier League club than a switch to a continental outfit.
This breakthrough is a huge victory for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who is reportedly interested in signing Huijsen to provide depth to the defensive corps of the club. He would first join Virgil van Dijk, learning under the Liverpool captain before eventually becoming his long-term successor at the heart of defense.
Romano provided further details on his channel: "Dean Huijsen is one to watch out for. As I mentioned more than two months ago, he has a £50m release clause and he will leave Bournemouth this summer.
"There is plenty of interest from Real Madrid, yes, but at this stage of the time, the club are yet to decide on investing in a new centre-back for next season."
Now with this recent update, Liverpool fans will be hoping their club will move to secure the young star, signing him into the club to pair with Van Dijk in a solid defensive duo in the not-too-distant future.
